This Daz3D tutorial shows how to create a poster plane and add it to the walls inside a Daz Studio scene. This is a great way to make more customized rooms. Poster is usually a flat image that was printed onto paper and hung on the wall. The image can be anything and posters can be met everywhere. So if you are making a scene inside a modern house – there is a good change that you need to create a poster.
In this article we will go step by step how you can take any image that you have and simply put it on the wall as a poster.
Daz3D How to Create a Poster
So you have a room with empty walls and want to improve that by adding a poster. I will place it on this wall.
I don’t think that this wall will benefit a lot from the poster, but it is what it is.
Daz3D Preparing Poster Object
So Poster is basically a thin sheet of paper with an image on it. The closest thing that we have in the Daz Studio is a plane. It is a 2D object in 3D world, which is basically a really thin object. It can be added from the “Create a new Primitive” menu.
In the appeared window change the size to something more suitable for a poster, like 2 meters. Then use either “Parameters” menu or “Translate” and “Rotate” tools to move and rotate the object to the right place.
Now we need to decide which image we are going to use as a poster. I am going to use this awesome render from our Daz3D Realistic Render Tips:

It is important to understand what image we would be using to match the aspect ratio on the plane. Otherwise – the image would be either stretched or squeezed.
Returning back. The resolution of my image is 1280×1080. When you divide 1280 by 1080 you get a ~1.18, which means that the aspect ratio is 1.18:1. So I set the Z to 118% and left both Y and X at 100%.
Daz3D Adding Image to an Object
When the object is finally ready – it is time to apply an image to it, so it would be a poster and not just a white plane on a wall. To do so – first of all you need to select your object by clicking on it on the viewport itself or in the “Scene” tab. Then open the “Surfaces” tab and find your object there.
Here we see a lot of different settings to choose from. Right now we only need one – the “Base Color” at the top. You need to click on the arrow on its left and in the drop-down window select “Browse” option.
This will open your OS file explorer, using which you need to select your image file that you want to use as a poster. After you do that – open the image and you should right away see it appearing on the plane object.
And you are basically done. There is a poster on the wall. The only thing that you can do is try changing all the settings from the “Surfaces” tab to make it look better or fit your scene. There are no rules here and you can try whatever you want. In the Daz3D Texture Tutorial: All about Textures, Materials and Shaders we looked into that menu and talked about the most important settings that you may want to use.
If you don’t have an image ready or don’t have ideas about what to put on a poster – the solution is there for you in the Daz3D Shop.
For example the Ron’s Acrylic Painting by deviney is a set of 45 high quality acrylic paintings that you can use for any purposes in your renderings. Including posters or paintings.

Another good variant in this case would be a Ultimate Wall Painting Collection by Daz Originals & Illumination. This one is different, because it includes not only images that you can use as posters, but 40 ready framed paintings that you can place right on your scene.

Conclusion Daz3D How to Create a Poster Plane
Creating a poster turns out to be quite an easy task. All you need is to prepare a good plane object and then add an image texture to it. We did touch on the Textures and Materials a bit here.
