But in reality people are a lot <strong>more diverse than that<\/strong>. They have the most different skin colors and details. So How can you represent that in the Daz Studio? How can you <strong>make someone look really pale or make them darker<\/strong>? One is a <strong>simpler way<\/strong> and another is <strong>more advanced <\/strong>that proposes more variety but harder to utilize.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Simple Skin Color Change<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>To utilize this method we will need to go to the Skin settings that can be found in the \u201c<em>Editor<\/em>\u201d of the \u201c<em>Surface<\/em>\u201d tab.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\"><figure class=\"aligncenter size-large\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"365\" height=\"634\" src=\"https:\/\/renderguide.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/daz3d-simple-skin-color-change.png\" alt=\"daz3d simple skin color change\" class=\"wp-image-4281\" srcset=\"https:\/\/renderguide.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/daz3d-simple-skin-color-change.png 365w, https:\/\/renderguide.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/daz3d-simple-skin-color-change-173x300.png 173w, https:\/\/renderguide.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/daz3d-simple-skin-color-change-300x521.png 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 365px) 100vw, 365px\" \/><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>Here we are interested in the \u201c<strong><em>Translucency Weight<\/em><\/strong>\u201d settings. By default it is set to the value of 0.5<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\"><figure class=\"aligncenter size-large\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"179\" height=\"52\" src=\"https:\/\/renderguide.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/daz-studio-translucency-weight.png\" alt=\"daz studio translucency weight\" class=\"wp-image-4283\"\/><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>Working with this setting is really simple. You can easily make your characters look more unique. Though there is a problem that you should have noticed &#8211; <strong>nails and lips<\/strong>. In both examples they stand out a lot and look out of place.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This can be <strong>fixed without really being a problem<\/strong>. All you need is to find the both Nails and Lips settings under the \u201c<em>Surfaces<\/em>\u201d still in the same window.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\"><figure class=\"aligncenter size-large\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"374\" height=\"658\" src=\"https:\/\/renderguide.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/daz-studio-nails-and-lips-color.png\" alt=\"daz studio nails and lips color\" class=\"wp-image-4285\" srcset=\"https:\/\/renderguide.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/daz-studio-nails-and-lips-color.png 374w, https:\/\/renderguide.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/daz-studio-nails-and-lips-color-171x300.png 171w, https:\/\/renderguide.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/daz-studio-nails-and-lips-color-300x528.png 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 374px) 100vw, 374px\" \/><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>And change the value of \u201c<em>Translucency Weight<\/em>\u201d so it would be <strong>similar <\/strong>to the value you set for the skin.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\"><figure class=\"aligncenter size-large\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"694\" height=\"833\" src=\"https:\/\/renderguide.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/daz-change-nails-color.png\" alt=\"daz change nails color\" class=\"wp-image-4287\" srcset=\"https:\/\/renderguide.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/daz-change-nails-color.png 694w, https:\/\/renderguide.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/daz-change-nails-color-250x300.png 250w, https:\/\/renderguide.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/daz-change-nails-color-300x360.png 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 694px) 100vw, 694px\" \/><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Easier way<\/strong> is that at the very beginning you could have selected the \u201c<em>Skin-Lips-Nails<\/em>\u201d option to select them all. This is useful when you want all of them to have <strong>exactly the same values<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\"><figure class=\"aligncenter size-large\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"145\" height=\"389\" src=\"https:\/\/renderguide.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/daz3d-skin-lips-nails.png\" alt=\"daz3d skin lips nails\" class=\"wp-image-4288\" srcset=\"https:\/\/renderguide.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/daz3d-skin-lips-nails.png 145w, https:\/\/renderguide.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/daz3d-skin-lips-nails-112x300.png 112w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 145px) 100vw, 145px\" \/><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Advanced Skin Color Change<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>If you go back to the \u201c<em>Skin<\/em>\u201d\/\u201c<em>Skin-Lips-Nails<\/em>\u201d settings, where we changed the \u201c<em>Translucency Weight<\/em>\u201d &#8211; right beneath it you can find the \u201c<em>Translucency Color<\/em>\u201d and the \u201c<em>SSS Reflectance Tint<\/em>\u201d.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\"><figure class=\"aligncenter size-large\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"187\" height=\"126\" src=\"https:\/\/renderguide.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/daz-studio-translucency-color.png\" alt=\"daz studio translucency color\" class=\"wp-image-4289\"\/><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>They work in combination with the \u201c<em>Translucency Weight\u201d<\/em>. The higher its value &#8211; the <strong>closer skin looks to the colors you set<\/strong>. You can see this if you set it to 1.0, the character will definitely have a red tint that is there by default.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Changing these values can <strong>change how your character looks<\/strong>. You can make so \u201c<em>Translucency Weight<\/em>\u201d will not make your character look darker, but something else.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\"><figure class=\"aligncenter size-large\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"185\" height=\"130\" src=\"https:\/\/renderguide.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/daz-studio-skin-translucency.png\" alt=\"daz studio skin translucency\" class=\"wp-image-4290\"\/><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>For example values above change it so it looks <strong>more like tan, than dark skin<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\"><figure class=\"aligncenter size-large\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"687\" height=\"826\" src=\"https:\/\/renderguide.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/daz-tan-skin.png\" alt=\"daz tan skin\" class=\"wp-image-4291\" srcset=\"https:\/\/renderguide.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/daz-tan-skin.png 687w, https:\/\/renderguide.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/daz-tan-skin-250x300.png 250w, https:\/\/renderguide.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/daz-tan-skin-300x361.png 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 687px) 100vw, 687px\" \/><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>Also this allows for easy creation of <strong>outwardly looking characters<\/strong>, such as this:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\"><figure class=\"aligncenter size-large\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"678\" height=\"838\" src=\"https:\/\/renderguide.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/daz3d-change-skin-color-1.png\" alt=\"daz3d change skin color\" class=\"wp-image-4292\" srcset=\"https:\/\/renderguide.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/daz3d-change-skin-color-1.png 678w, https:\/\/renderguide.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/daz3d-change-skin-color-1-243x300.png 243w, https:\/\/renderguide.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/daz3d-change-skin-color-1-300x371.png 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 678px) 100vw, 678px\" \/><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>But you need to be careful with these settings as changing them even slightly can and will <strong>change how your character looks by a lot<\/strong>.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Making Skin Glossy and Reflective<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Skin Color is not the only thing that differs one person from another. People have really <strong>different skin glossiness and reflectiveness too<\/strong>. Meaning that someone&#8217;s skin can be naturally really glossy and vice versa. The default characters skin settings in Daz Studio do not really show that.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>To <strong>change the look of the skin<\/strong> in this way you will need to find the \u201c<em>Dual Lobe Specular<\/em>\u201d option and change the \u201c<em>Dual Lobe Specular Weight<\/em>\u201d there from 0 to something bigger.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\"><figure class=\"aligncenter size-large\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"363\" height=\"628\" src=\"https:\/\/renderguide.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/daz-studio-dual-lobe-specular.png\" alt=\"daz studio dual lobe specular\" class=\"wp-image-4293\" srcset=\"https:\/\/renderguide.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/daz-studio-dual-lobe-specular.png 363w, https:\/\/renderguide.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/daz-studio-dual-lobe-specular-173x300.png 173w, https:\/\/renderguide.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/daz-studio-dual-lobe-specular-300x519.png 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 363px) 100vw, 363px\" \/><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>Even something as low as 0.2 can change the look of your character <strong>dramatically<\/strong>. They will look as <strong>glossy <\/strong>as if they are wet.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\"><figure class=\"aligncenter size-large\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"689\" height=\"837\" src=\"https:\/\/renderguide.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/daz-reflective-skin.png\" alt=\"daz reflective skin\" class=\"wp-image-4296\" srcset=\"https:\/\/renderguide.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/daz-reflective-skin.png 689w, https:\/\/renderguide.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/daz-reflective-skin-247x300.png 247w, https:\/\/renderguide.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/daz-reflective-skin-300x364.png 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 689px) 100vw, 689px\" \/><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>Or if you change the \u201c<em>Dual Lobe Specular Reflectivity<\/em>\u201d to something lower their skin will become really <strong>specular but not reflective<\/strong>.
